The 7 Lagunas Ausangate 1-Day Tour is an incredible excursion where you will visit lagoons with different color contrasts as well as spectacular mountains.
For this tour you will be picked up from your hotel at 4 a.m. This is one of the new tourist options in Cusco – Hiking of “the 7 Lakes” and requires an initial journey of 3½ hours to the south east of Cusco. Our destination is the village of Pacchanta, which is located at 4,200m. In the past this place was only visited by those who were undertaking the hike to the Ausangate mountain peak. Today, this area has converted into one of the most visited places amongst tourists coming to Cusco due to its attractive rural paths and its imposing lakes of different colors and designs – the product of the melting glaciers from the majestic Ausangate Mountain.
The estimated time to complete the trek to the 7 lakes is about 5 hours. The level of difficulty is considered as moderate. During the walk you will pass through many distinct landscapes – all astounding. You will be able to observe a variety of Andean wildlife – both domestic and non-domestic – such as alpacas, llamas, Vizcachas, Andean Geese, foxes, deer and birds of prey.
We will be back at our base in Pacchanta at about 1 p.m. Here we can enjoy the thermal pools of medicinal waters before having a lunch of typical Andean produce. Following this amazing lunch, we shall begin our return journey to Cusco.
We highly recommend that you acclimatize to the altitude and conditions in Cusco before making this trip. If you do then you will be rewarded with an amazing experience in pristine landscapes, pretty much untouched by human interventions. Very likely this will be your most memorable experience of your time in Cusco!!
